The Runaways did not prove to be very successful in their native United States. However, their fame grew internationally, especially in Japan. When the band broke up around 1979 Ford began a successful solo career in metal. Following lessons in voice she released her solo debut album "Out for Blood", followed by "Dancin at the Edge". Ford's albums were not very well-received, and so she went under the radar for a few years. The album she dominated, "Lita", released in 1988 brought her back with an explosion. Both the song "Kiss My Deadly" and the ballad "Close My Eyes Forever" became huge hits. She disappeared from the world of music for few years after her short-lived commercial success. Following the release of 'Black' in 1995 and then a couple of years after that, "Wicked Wonderland" was released, she returned to the scene. Her most recent album 'Time Capsule' was released in the year 2016. Guitar Player Magazine awarded her the prestigious Certified Guitar Legend Award.
