Dina Meyer was born and raised in Forest Hills, Queens, New York, but moved to Dix Hills, Long Island, just before her last year in junior high school. She has two siblings, one of whom is older, named Gregory and a younger brother named Evan. When she was nine up to 16, she started being involved in the business of entertainment through modeling. Ron Stetson taught her the Sanford Meisner acting technique at The Neighborhood Playhouse. Sandra Bullock was among those who studied by this method and so were Michael Douglas, Jeff Goldblum Leslie Nielsen and Diane Keaton. Her first acting role came in Beverly Hills 90210. This required her moving out in Los Angeles. Within the following couple of months, she was offered the part as Johnny Mnemonic. For this movie, she was responsible of almost every stunt and demonstrated herself as an excellent actress.
